Losing our faith

Dear Editor,

I want to comment on the present situation in our country. Rather than experiencing a “new golden age,” things continue to deteriorate. In terms of our leaders in Washington, the temptations of power and wealth seem far too seductive! We’ve always had corrupt politicians, but the situation now appears to have reached a whole new level — and I’m referring to both parties! I keep pondering the question that Abraham addressed in the Bible; “Are there 10 righteous men in Sodom?”

With the partial release of the Epstein files we are given a small glimpse into the complete depravity that is rampant throughout much of the corporate and political worlds, and of course, the film industry. Besides former Prince Andrew and a few other “sacrificial lambs,” there seems to be no interest in bringing any of our ruling class to justice.

However, it’s not only child abuse in the Epstein files that shocks the conscience; but the policy of several of our states to insist on the right to mutilate children through transgender surgeries; or to legally abort babies at birth which is infanticide! Also deeply disturbing is the fact America has been the largest consumer of human trafficking; with hundreds of thousands of children being subjected to sexual exploitation, slave labor, or far worse!

With what’s transpiring in our colleges and universities, we shouldn’t be shocked that New Yorkers elected a radical Marxist for Mayor. Zohran Mamdani, with his communist, and radical Islamic ideologies, will only accelerate the death of the “Big Apple.” But, New York isn’t the only trouble spot; many of our cities are rife with open drug use, poverty, and violence. Even the police have backed off as gangs roam the streets causing all kinds of havoc.

As our nation teeters on the brink, I think the huge U.S. build up in the Middle East is both dangerous and prophetic. In the book of Daniel in the Old Testament, there is a sobering account of a war that eventually leads to the second coming of Jesus Christ. Daniel states that a rogue nation, referred to as Persia, (Iran) will be causing much trouble in the world until a coalition of countries from the west attack in a “rage,” and defeat it decisively. Shortly after that, the superpower leading the coalition begins melting down.

With America having abandoned its dependence on God and being overextended economically and militarily, the warning in this prophecy is deeply unsettling. Perhaps it’s time to look up and call on the One who saves!
