Lost U.S. ‘integrity’
Dear Editor,
It is extremely discouraging to see our beloved country being torn apart and demoralized by the government that was sworn by law to protect us.
We have an administration that continually lies about everything that is done. The lies from the media and government have been focused on Donald Trump for years and are still continuing.
We have a President of the United States who spends more time outside of Washington than anyone in 20 years and can’t handle the problems confronting the nation. Is this what a career politician is, someone who has lost touch with reality? It’s time there are term limits to this kind of debacle.
The partisanship is horrific. I have been looking for the unity I heard we would be getting; instead the country is more divisive. Crime is rampant, and safety is almost a thing of the past in many cities. If the government would think more about the majority of Americans who work and pay taxes instead of the name of the party each individual represents, maybe we would see resolutions to the problems we face.
The student loan forgiveness is absolutely unconscionable to the majority of our citizens. Why should lower and middle class workers pay for someone’s debt, a debt they chose to incur. When a person decides to take the loan, there is a pledge to repay it. It may take some time, but ethically it’s the right thing to do. We are losing our accountability for things we have asked for and accepted.
Many citizens are getting to be too dependent on others, especially the government. The work ethic is dying because too many of the younger generation see entitlements where they shouldn’t exist. Where has integrity been lost? This way of thinking is making sure we as a country die from within; we won’t need a foreign power to do it for us.
