10 Commandments

Judge Roy Moore was the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court in 2001.  He is known for posting the Ten Commandments in the Alabama Judicial Building.  He successfully fought off challenges to his position for a couple years but finally was removed from the court.  Along with the Commandments.

He unsuccessfully ran as a Republican for Governor of Alabama in 2006 and 2010.  He floated the idea of running for President in 2012; instead he was re-elected back to his Alabama Supreme Court position.  He was again removed in 2015, this time for opposing same sex marriage.

He had a lot of support for the Ten Commandments position, though.  Personally, I could never see what it would accomplish.  Now I may have changed my mind.

Just a few days ago 88% of evangelical Christians voted for a man who routinely breaks 7 of the 10 commandments.

I am giving President-elect Trump a pass on believing in God — he said he did.  I believe he honors his mother and father.  They gave a him a million or so dollars and bailed him out more than once.  I assume he said thank-you.  And I don’t believe the Donald ever murdered anyone.

But the rest?  It’s pretty clear our president elect doesn’t measure up too well.

Maybe we do need to post the Ten Commandments somewhere.  Maybe we start with our churches.
