Concept of freedom
Dear Editor,
“Diversity is our greatest strength.” At one time, this was true as American escaped the European bondage of entitlement due to a persons lineage. Pedigree, rather than prowess, was a person’s passport to prosperity. Our fledgling democracy flourished faster than any other nation in the history of the world.
However, such diversity is no longer our greatest strength. It make be our most dire threat, as evidenced by the rise of domestic terrorism and radical Islam. During our genesis, people enjoyed freedom from religious oppression, the caste system, and inescapable, inherited poverty.
This concept of freedom has been perverted to allow compromising the God-given freedoms of others with impunity, including the taking of human lives, in obviously abominable bombings or the subtle wickedness of murdering the unborn. For a modern case in point, examine the realities of extreme ethnic diversity in England and Angelo Merkel’s stance in Germany.
We need to fix our own backyard, police it effectively, and revise our immigration policies. This is an imperative necessity to preserve our rights to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If we don’t act with definitive authority now, “911” will never be able to prevent the next “nine eleven.”
Sincerely,
Eric Olson
