Caged dog

Dear editor:

I would like to address an issue that neighbors are probably aware of.

I drove by a home this week and to my horror, I spotted a small cage with wire fence sides and a dog house inside it. I pity the poor dog that gets a life sentence with this family.

Dog houses are even illegal in some states, and I wish they could be in all states. This is animal cruelty, pure and simple. Right now, it is still too cold to be leaving a dog outside.

I know that the Humane Society would never adopt out one of their animals if they knew that it was going to serve a sentence of being locked up in a cage.

If you can’t own an animal that lives in your house with you, then you should not own one. It sets a real bad example for the children of a family because they then believe that it is ok. I really hope that action will be taken to get this cage and dog house removed. If I see a dog living there, I will most assuredly contact the Humane Society in the hopes that they will take action against the human residents.

We hope that someone will speak to the neighbor that has this dog cage and ask them to please remove it. We are staunch supporters of animal rights and do not appreciate seeing people locking animals up in a cage for their whole life. I would suggest that if anyone anywhere sees a cage and dog house like this that they report it.

I am not revealing the location of this particular house as I am sure that others know where this situation exists. Free the animals as they don’t deserve to be prisoners.
