Elsa Manelick
Elsa Manelick
Elsa Manelick, 91, of Youngsville, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 15th, surrounded by the love of those who cherished her.
Born on Nov. 9, 1934, to the late Edward and Mary Nelson in Warren, Elsa was a 1952 graduate of Youngsville High School, after which she went on to attend Houghton College in New York. In July of 1955, Elsa married James Manelick in Youngsville and started what would become one of her greatest joys, her family. A lifelong resident of Youngsville, she worked in the school district tax office, Youngsville Elementary school, and the Youngsville District Magistrate’s office.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the First United Methodist Church in Youngsville, where she was a church organist/pianist, and in the Bell Choir.
Elsa was a true lover of music. She played piano, bells, and the organ. Whether playing her favorite songs, volunteering her talents, or sharing her musical gifts with others, music brought her joy and connected her to the people around her. Her love for music was only matched by her love for family and friends. Elsa had a generous spirit and welcoming presence that made others feel at home. Though she may no longer walk among us, her love, her music, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Joletta) Manelick of Warren, and Kristin (Jeffrey) Truesdale of Severna Park, MD.; 6 grandchildren, Clairessa (Tony) Fanelli, Collin (Hallie) Manelick, Cassandra (Daniel) Novak, Jillian Manelick (Tom Baker), Justin Truesdale (Sonia Diaz) and Alyssa (Andrew) Willis; 14 great-grandchildren; Joseph, Laura, and Grace Fanelli, Jameson, Bryson and Kylie Novak, Della, Margo and Edith Manelick, Chase Stec and Koe Baker, and Harper, Brooks and Avery Willis; her sister Karen McNeely of Kissimmee, FL.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Elsa was preceded in death by her husband James in 2015, her brother Myron Nelson, her sister Lillian Fandt, and great grandson William Novak.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Elsa’s memory to the First United Methodist Church in Youngsville, the New Life Church in Youngsville, Struthers Library Theater in Warren, or a charity of your choice.
The Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 314 North Main St. Youngsville, PA., is in charge of all arrangements. Condolences may be made to the family at nelsonfuneralhome.net.
