Martha J. Bailey Baker

Martha Jean Bailey Baker, 88, of Erie and formerly of Youngsville, PA, passed on to her heavenly home on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025. Born March 12, 1937, in Cambridge Springs, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Elsie Jewell Bailey. Martha graduated from Youngsville High School in the class of 1955. She spent most of her life in the Youngsville area. She was a member and attended Youngsville Free Methodist Church and also Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Harborcreek, PA. Martha worked at New Process Co. (Blair) of Warren, PA for over 31 years, retiring in 2001. A year later, she started working at the Rouse Suites in Youngsville from 2001 – 2011, and retired then at age 73. On January 11, 2011, she moved to Erie after her husband died.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Paul Baker on March 27, 2009; her twin sister, Mary Jane Gibson on May 2, 2016; her brother-in-law, James Gibson in April 2017; and 2 granddaughters, Lindsey (Baker) Whitney who died from cancer in August 2018 and Deanna Lent who died of cancer in 2022.

Martha is survived by two sons: John (Barbara) Baker of Erie, PA, Gordon (Diana) Baker of Columbus, OH; 1 grandson, Ben (Jacquelyn) Baker of Columbus, Ohio; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received from 10 am- 12 noon on Sept. 18th at McKinney Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 54 West Main Street, Youngsville where a funeral service will follow at noon. Burial will be in Youngsville Cemetery.
