Charles W. Hollingshead
Charles W. Hollingshead, 75, of Warren, PA., who suffered from and ultimately succumbed to complications of agent orange, on Tuesday evening, Aug. 8, 2023, with his wife at his side.
Chuck was born Jan. 31, 1948, in Warren, PA. He was the son of Charles W. and Angeline R. Musante Hollingshead Sr.
He was a lifelong Warren resident, wintering in Apache Junction, AZ. He was a 1966 graduate of Warren High School. On March 1, 1967, Chuck was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he attained the rank of Sergeant. He earned a Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, a Combat Infantryman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle), Expert M-60 and Army Commendation Medal. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 28, 1969.
He was employed with Penelec as a linesman for 35 years, retiring in 2004. Chuck was a lifetime member of the Warren American Legion Post 135, Tidioute Pequignot-Yeager Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8803 and a member of the Warren Eagles Aerie, Warren Moose Lodge 109. Chuck was an active member with the Starbrick Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
He was a member his whole life at St. Joseph R.C. Church, where he helped wash dishes in the school kitchen for wedding receptions. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and woodworker, making bowls and he enjoyed building their home.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 55 years, Denice Bowser Hollingshead whom he married July 13, 1968, at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Warren, PA., two daughters, Brenda Conrad and husband, David, Jessica Rex and husband, Troy; five grandchildren, Claudia Napoli and husband, Jay of Washington, D.C., Althea of Virginia, and Elsa Jane Conrad, Sydney, and Gavin Rex, all of Warren, PA.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Catherine Hollingshead, two brothers, David B., and Jay A. Hollingshead.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East St., Warren, PA. on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, from 5 to 7 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at 11 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Ave. West, Warren, PA., with Father Richard Tomasone, Pastor, officiating, and followed by full military honors conducted by members of the Sheffield/Clarendon V.F.W. and Warren American Legion funeral detail and members of the U.S. Army.
