Joyce A. Ferraro

Joyce was born on April 13, 1934, in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of the late Kenneth and Loretta Heim-bach Helander. Joyce graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1953.

Joyce had worked as a manager at Chautauqua Dairy Store and she was a baker for Quality Markets. Her main priority was raising and caring for her family. She was an avid knitter. Joyce enjoyed reading, NASCAR, listening to music and Lifetime movies. She was a great seamstress and made a lot of clothing for her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed trips in the car with her husband, especially trips to the casino. She was known to her family as “Nani”.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Samuel Ferraro, whom she married on March 31, 1956, in James-town, N.Y. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary; two daughters: Terry-Jo (Gary) Bjorkquist of Clarendon, Pa., and Jody (Dave) Slater of Sugar Grove, Pa.; her son, Charles (Shaleen) Ferraro of Star-brick, Pa.; her sister, Donna Helander; six grandchildren: Keith Campbell, Sarah (Ryan) Turney, Jake (Amber) Arrance, Lacey Bjorkquist, Danielle Ferraro and Samuel Ferraro; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at her daughter Jody’s residence, 12 Patterson St., Sugar Grove, PA from 2-4 p.m.

Joyce’s family suggest memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter, 6215 Sheridan Dr. 100, Buffalo, NY 14221.
