Christy O. Nelson

He was born in 1922 in Kane, Pa., a son to the late Walter C. and Dora (Peter-son) Nelson. Christy graduated from Kane High School in 1940 and was proud to have earned his Eagle Scout Award. He served his country during WWII, having served in the 5th USAAF with duty in the 12th ordnance Townsville A2, New Guinea and the Philippines.

After the war, he worked for Bell Telephone for 42 years as a cable splicer, retiring in 1982. Christy enjoyed hunting and fishing, he made many trips to Canada and Alaska. He traveled to all of the states except Hawaii. Christy also enjoyed mowing his yard, gardening and watching Westerns. He was a member of the Youngsville American legion, Post 658, the Sugar Grove AMVETS, Post 50 and the F&AM Masonic Lodge No. 566 in Kane, Pa.

Christy is survived by three nephews: John, Doug and Ken Wenslow; as well as his good friends and neighbors, Dave and Cheryl VanHouten.

In addition to his parents, Christy was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; a sister, Nancy Wenslow; a brother-in-law, Ron; and an infant brother.

Family and friends will be received at the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St., Youngsville, Pa., 16371 from 10 a.m. to noon at which time a funeral service will be held there with the Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor of the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Kane, Pa.
