Patricia Stanton
Patricia Stanton died Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at The Rouse Home.
She was born in McKeesport, Pa., on Aug. 26, 1928, a daughter of the late Thad and Clysta Lawson. Mrs. Stanton lived in the Warren area most of her life.
She attended Clarion College, Edinboro, and Jamestown Community College briefly. Among other places, she was employed in the engineering office of the Bell Telephone Company, Sylvania, the Head Start Program, sold insurance for John Hancock, and worked at Warren State Hospital for 21 years.
Mrs. Stanton is survived by a son, Douglas (Susie Reyes) Stanton, and grand-daughter, Melissa Stanton, in Arizona; a daughter, Sue (Ron) Jorgenson of Russell, Pa.; a daughter, Rachel (Randy) Phillips of Warren, Pa., a grandson, Ryan Phillips; great-granddaughters: Taryn, Cierra, Hannah and Ivory Phillips of Warren; a grandson, Scott Phillips, great-grandsons: Liam, Ryder, and Judah Phillips of Franklin, Tenn., a grandson, Russell (Jessica) Phillips, great-grandchildren: Micaiah, Selah and Asher Phillips of Sharpsville, Pa., a grandson, Riley (Amy) Phillips, great-grand-daughters: Afton and Maven Phillips of Challis Idaho, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, William Stanton; her brother, Calvin Lawson; a granddaughter, Renee Phillips; and all of her brothers and sisters-in-law.
In keeping with her independent spirit and attention to detail, Patricia wrote her own obituary. Her family would like to add that she was a loving and creative mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, marked by an uncommon, selfless generosity. It was often remarked that she was “one of a kind.” She was known for her sparkle and zest, for animated conversation, and in her younger days, a penchant for planning parties and family get-togethers.
Mrs. Stanton prearranged for her remains to be donated to medical science. Her request for a service followed by a party for family and friends to celebrate her arrival in the presence of Christ, will be delayed until the spring or summer of 2021 with the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.
For those wishing to make a memorial contribution, Mrs. Stanton’s favorite charities were the Russell United Methodist Church Building Fund, Russell VFD, Warren Public Library, Hospice and Wycliffe Translators.
