State unemployment rate down to 4.1% in June

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry released its preliminary employment situation report for June 2026. Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was down one-tenth of a percentage point over the month to 4.1 percent in June. The PA rate remained one-tenth of a percentage point below the U.S. unemployment rate of 4.2 percent, which was also down a tenth of a point over the month. A Russell man has been sentenced to between 22 months and five years of confinement after a 2025 domestic incident. Hugo T. Rosendahl, 57, had been charged in February 2025 with with three first-degree felonies including two charges of aggravated assault- attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes of injury with extreme indifference, and one count strangulation- applying pressure to the throat or neck. A Wattsburg man currently awaiting trial on child rape charges now faces additional charges after an incident in the Warren County Prison. Richard L. Sweet, 53, was charged Wednesday with first-degree aggravated assault - attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, second-degree assault by prisoner on another, misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person and misdemeanor simple assault after an incident July 7 in the jail.
