Council recognizes volleyball, Keystone teams

Members of the Warren Area High School girls volleyball team are pictured being recognized by the City Council this week.

During Monday night’s meeting, City Council members honored the Warren Dragons volleyball team for their outstanding academic and athletic excellence.

The team completed an undefeated regular season and secured the District 10 Championships title during the 2025 season. This earned them recognition for their hard work and dedication on and off the court.

“This team continues to set the bar in terms of athletic and academic pursuits,” said Mayor David Wortman, praising the players for their commitment and discipline.

The team members and coaching staff were announced at the beginning of the meeting and presented with certificates in recognition of their achievements.

Council members also recognized Beaty Middle School’s Keystone Team for their recent success at the Keystone Competition in Edinboro. The group of Nina Woldt, Ty Bryan, Alice Sanford and Jackson Warner earned first place as well as the People’s Choice Award.

During the competition, teams were challenged to develop a STEM-based solution to a real-world problem impacting schools. Beaty’s Keystone Team designed and built a prototype aimed at reducing the long lunch lines in school cafeterias, addressing efficiency and student experience.

The award-winning team consists of three students from Beaty Middle School and one student from Youngsville Middle School.

Starting at $3.50/week.
