Hospice of Warren County to host annual memorial service Sunday

Three candles are lit by Hospice of Warren County nurses to illuminate Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

Hospice of Warren County and the Schorman Center cordially invite the community to join them for their Annual Memorial Service on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m.

This year’s service, organized yearly by Jodi Bevevino, bereavement coordinator at the Schorman Center, is being hosted by the Pleasant Community Church, 673 Pleasant Drive, Warren. Non-denominational and open to the public this uplifting event is presented to evoke a sense of hope, joy and future peace. Bevevino said it is an emotional time but one that often includes a sense of levity.

“It’s not doom and gloom.” she says.

Hospice annual memorial services are vital for honoring the deceased and supporting the bereaved, fostering a sense of community and shared healing. Death touches us all and you do not have to have had a family member or friend that received hospice services to attend the memorial. All are welcome.

Host Pastor James Swanson II along with other community clergy members will offer readings during the service. This year’s Message of Hope will be presented by the Rev. Tara Eastman of First Presbyterian Church. Hospice Medical Director Dr. Keith Price and Darlene Schultz John, Hospice executive director, are given the honor of reading the Roll of the Honored Dead saying aloud the names of our loved ones, gone from this life but not forgotten.

Holy Redeemer Musical Director Rachel Harvey plays the piano and provides vocal selections throughout the Annual Memorial Service.

Poems, stories, prayers representing many religions and musical selections played throughout the service by pianist/vocalist Rachel Harvey will provide a calm, relaxing and thought provoking time for reflection and remembrance of those that have died.

“How can you not experience hope and joy when you listen to that music?” Bevevino asked.

Following the service, which will last 30 to 40 minutes, guests are encouraged to join together for fellowship and refreshments and to enjoy a time of connections, new and old, in a supportive environment.
