Warren senior nominated for CLASS Act Emerging Leader Award

Aydin Anthony
-Warren Area High School has nominated Aydin Anthony for the Northwest PA CLASS Act Emerging Leader Award.
Each of the school districts in Erie, Crawford and Warren counties will present one student nominee each month. The nominee is a student in 10th through 12th grades who is picked by faculty members. A credentialed committee will objectively select a student to be honored with a $1,200 Emerging Leader Award Scholarship monthly. The nine previously nominated and honored students throughout the school year will be considered for a second scholarship of $5,500 to be awarded at the end of the school year.
“Aydin is an outstanding student whose academic and extracurricular achievements make him a model representative of our school and community,” Warren Area High School officials said in a Facebook post announcing Anthony’s nomination.
Anthony takes Advanced Placement, Honors, and Dual Enrollment courses and is a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. Aydin has also earned Warren Area High School’s Academic Letter multiple years. Beyond academics, Aydin is involved in the arts, participating in both band and orchestra and contributing his talents to the Yearbook staff.
“Aydin is a reliable and trusted resource for staff and students alike. He regularly provides photography and video content for the school website, in-building presentations, weekly student news broadcasts, and SWPBIS training videos,” WAHS staff said.
Anthony has served as the lighting designer for major school events, including the All-County Musical, assemblies, graduation, concerts and school recognition ceremonies. Aydin is employed by the Struthers Library Theatre as the in-house lighting designer. In this role, he produces show lighting for nationally recognized artists in the “Celebrity Series,” Warren Players musicals and theatre productions, and the SLT Academy shows, which train young students in all aspects of theatre. He has contributed more than 250 volunteer hours to community productions and video editing projects. Aydin also serves as a mentor, guiding younger students in lighting design and theatre production, sharing his knowledge, encouraging their growth and connecting them with resources to pursue their own interests. Aydin plans to attend Point Park University to major in Theatrical Design, Management, and Production. His long-term goal is to become a commercial lighting designer for Broadway or touring theatre and music productions.
