Parent Teacher Student Organization formed at Beaty

A new organization was started to benefit the students at Beaty Middle School.

The first meeting of the Beaty Dragons Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) took place on May 20. The organization was formed to increase the sense of community and belonging in the middle school, as well as improve the communication between home and school.

Kristen Campbell, newly elected president and organizer of the PTSO, said she was excited to give students a large role in the new organization.

“In middle school, students are growing towards more independence and developing their leadership skills,” Campbell said. “This will be a wonderful opportunity for students to partner alongside the adults as we all work together toward the common goal of growing a positive, supportive relationship between school and home.”

The PTSO hopes to see communication improve between home and school. This includes communication between parents and teachers, as well as coaching parents on how to maintain supportive communication as their middle schooler(s) gains more independence.

Dr. Lyle Dosser, Beaty Middle School principal, has been supportive of the program and attended the inaugural meeting, according to Campbell.

Participants in the Beaty Dragons PTSO will need to have clearances to work with students, per school policy. Parents who already have clearances will still need to fill out forms specifically for Beaty Middle School.

Parents who are interested in joining the Beaty Dragons PTSO can e-mail Beatydragonspto@gmail.com.

Starting at $3.50/week.
