The Warren Philharmonic will take its audience on a train ride this weekend.
This weekend’s performance of “All Aboard” is set for Holy Redeemer Church on Sunday at 4 p.m.
The concert will feature music about railroads, trains and the landscapes they travel through.
“We are very excited about a couple of specific pieces on the program,” Brenda Schnick said. “There is a very interesting piece called ‘Pacific 231.’ This piece embodies the sounds of the railroad in the 1930’s and 40’s.”
Also on the program are selections including “Model Railway” by Charles Williams, “John Henry” by Aaron Copland, “Duke Ellington Fantasy,” “Orange Blossom Special” arranged by Robert Wendel and “Copenhagener Eisenbahn Dampf Galopp” by H. C. Lumbye.

It’s a concert that has been in the works for years. It was set to be performed in March 2020 at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Bryan Eckenrode, our conductor and musical director, grew up in Cresson Pa. and his father worked on the railroad,” Schnick said. “Bryan has always had a fascination with trains.”
Tickets – $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors – will be available at the door starting at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday. Children under 11 are free.
The performance will also be livestreamed on the Philharmonic’s YouTube page.
It’s made possible through the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Sunday marks the second of three concerts in the Philharmonic’s 2023-2024 season.
The third will be held Mothers Day, May 12, at First Lutheran Church.
“This concert will feature our pianist Amber Shay Nicholson performing a Mozart piano concerto,” Schnick said.
The annual outdoor concert in conjunction with the Warren County Summer Music School is set for June 27.
“We have begun planning a very exciting event for March of 2025,” she added. “We are working to bring Melinda Crawford Perttu, a former National Scottish Fiddling champion to Warren as our soloist and to provide a workshop to our string players during this same time next year.”
