25 to 50 years: Victims grateful for support in wake of kidnapping

The victims in the kidnapping case against Michael Burham have undoubtedly been impacted by the crimes Burham perpetrated against them.

But they’re grateful to the law enforcement agencies that have been involved in the case.

And they’re also grateful for family and friends that have helped them during this time.

“The Anundson and Dysinger families would like to thank all of the law enforcement agencies involved in this case,” Jess Anundson, one of the two people Burham kidnapped and forced on a trip to South Carolina, said in a letter provided to the Times Observer by District Attorney Rob Greene in advance of Burham’s sentencing.

Anundson also said that they want to thank the Attorney General’s Office as well as the judicial offices in Warren County.

“We greatly appreciate the assistance from the members of the Warren County Crime Victims Office,” she said. “Thank you to the many healthcare professionals who are taking us through our physical care and the healing process.”

Family and friends have been supportive to the Anundsons and they’re grateful.

“Our children and grandchildren have been there for us from the very beginning,” she wrote. “They reached out to other family members and friends in trying to find us.

“People were searching for us, making calls, babysitting our youngest grandchildren, bringing food and doing everything that could to help the situation,” she added. “Our small community has been greatly affected by this and have been very caring and respectful these past several months.”

Anundson said that the family would “speak again” once the “legal process in New York State is completed.”
