WCSD board holds brief special meeting, hears from PSBA

Following regularly scheduled committee meetings last month, the Warren County School Board held a brief full board meeting before moving to executive session.

During the meeting, the board passed an updated resolution recognizing outgoing board members Joseph Colosimo, Jeffery Dougherty, Marcy Morgan, Arthur Stewart and Donna Zariczny for their service.

A previous resolution had included board member Kevin Lindvay. Lindvay had lost in the May Republican primary election, but ended up being placed on the ballot by the county Republican committee when candidate Wendy McQueen dropped out. Lindvay ultimately secured a seat in the general election.

The turnover on the nine-member board means new members will immediately have a majority.

In other business, the board approved athletic and co-curricular contracts before heading to executive session to discuss personnel matters.

Foremost for discussion was the recently launched search for a replacement for Superintendent Amy Stewart, who will retire in March. Representatives from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association were present to work out the details of the search process.

As the meeting marked the last time the current board would convene, incoming board members set to be seated next month were invited to attend and help shape the search process.

Earlier this month, the board hired PSBA to provide comprehensive consultation services for the search at a rate of $15,000.

Starting at $3.50/week.
