Planners approve development request along the Conewango
A business along the Conewango Creek seeking to further develop its resources secured the blessing of the City of Warren’s Planning Commission Wednesday morning.
Director of Codes and Planning Randy Rossey told the commission that Tom Pellegrino has proposed construction of a canopy cover over an existing patio/stage on his property that abuts the Conewango River.
He said it’s a project similar to one Pellegrino undertook this spring.
Rossey said the commission has to approve the development because the parcel is zoned “preservation.” He said it will also require a Zoning Hearing Board hearing which is set for next month.
“It’s so beautiful down there,” Pellegrino said, but told the commission that rain can be a challenge.
“I’ve been down there several times,” commission member Michael Lyon said. “I don’t think the use is changing. I don’t think it’s detrimental to the use of the river.”
“It looks great over there,” commission member Mike Suppa added.
The commission approved the request.
Rossey also updated the commission on the status of the city’s zoning ordinance rewrite.
He said a draft ordinance should be provided to the Commission prior to the December meeting. Approval in December would kick off a 45-day public comment period.
