Lottsville Heritage Day set for Saturday

Times Observer file photo Bill Nichols shares some of his grandmother’s stories from 1940s Lottsville during the dedication of the Freehold Township Archive Room, part of last year’s Lottsville Heritage Day. This year’s edition is set for Saturday at the Freehold Township grounds.
Lottsville was born when Harmones Lott, a farmer from what is now Brooklyn, N.Y., bought 1,300 acres in Feb. 1810.
That history will be celebrated this weekend at the 17th edition of Lottsville Heritage Day.
The Saturday event will be held at the Freehold Township building and grounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Come early and enjoy an Amish donut and coffee,” Don Martin, one of the event’s organizers said. “Visit the Freehold Township Heritage Room with many historical pictures and displays of Lottsville and Wrightsville.”
There will be events held throughout the day.
At 11 a.m. a 20-minute fire safety demonstration will be provided by Hannah’s Helping Hands. Horse drawn wagon rides are set for 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
A bounce house will be available for the kids, as well.
A $12 chicken BBQ will start at 11:30 a.m.
“There is also other food available,” Martin said. “New this year is KC’s Ice Cream Truck and Kettle Corn.”
An auction will be held starting at 1 p.m. with items including crafts, pies and baked goods, potatoes and produce items, flowers and gift cards.
“Our auction is always a popular event at Heritage Day,” Martin said. “We are appreciative of the dozens and dozens of area businesses that donate items for our auction.”
