Corry man pleads guilty to assaults on jail officers

A Corry man has pleaded guilty to assaults against two corrections officers at the Warren County Jail.

Mason Swanson, 32, entered pleas to aggravated harassment by prisoner and simple assault during change of plea proceedings Monday at the Warren County Courthouse.

Judge Gregory Hammond said that the harassment charge, a felony, stemmed from an incident at the jail on Jan. 31 where Swanson spit in the face of a corrections officer. He pleaded guilty to simple assault for, Hammond detailed, an incident that occurred on May 3 when he kicked an officer in the left ribcage.

In exchange for the pleas, charges including two counts of aggravated assault, harassment and assault by prisoner were not prosecuted.

Last month Swanson pleaded guilty, online court records show, to seven felony counts of possession of child pornography. Agents found Swanson at the Columbus Township address and found him to be in possession of two electronic storage devices, one of which was later determined to contain “numerous digital files of apparent child pornography,” according to the affidavit of probable cause

According to the affidavit, Swanson told investigators “he has tried to delete all of the child pornography he had saved on his devices because he is no longer interested in it.”

The following defendants also entered guilty pleas Monday:

¯ Samuel J. Nicholson, 39, Tidioute, to simple assault and terroristic threats. Charges of aggravated assault and harassment were not prosecuted.

¯ Eric D. Olson, 54, Warren, to DUI and three traffic offenses. An additional count of DUI and two traffic violations were not prosecuted.

¯ Steven T. Stewart, 36, Warren, to simple assault. Charges of harassment and endangering the welfare of children were not prosecuted.

¯ Kyle S. Swick, 20, Warren, to criminal mischief.
