State survey seeks broadband feedback
Warren County will have to show a defined need to get a substantial piece of the broadband grant money prize.
To that end, county officials are pushing an online survey aimed at providing services data to the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority.
The survey – the Pennsylvania Statewide Broadband Connectivity and Digital Access Survey – can be found at surveymonkey.com/r/PA_BCDA and should take 10-15 minutes to complete.
It will ask you to identify your provider and location by zip code, rate the quality of that provider and also explores how people use the internet available to them.
“They are providing an opportunity for citizens of our country to tell them what kind of broadband services they have,” Kim Slocum, the county’s grant writer, told the Times Observer.
She stressed that it is “important… to get people’s input for these grants.”
“As the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks to expand and invest in improved broadband connectivity and digital access, your input as a Pennsylvania resident will provide vital support to the Commonwealth’s strategies to close the digital divide,” the PBDA says as part of the survey.
“Your input will inform the 5-Year Action Plan and Digital Equity Plans, being prepared in 2023 by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (Authority). By completing this survey, you are providing critical information that will help the Commonwealth qualify for over $1 billion in federal funding to invest in our communities.”
