The inaugural Trevor Chambers Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Lilly Clough and Olivia Darling by his parents, Donald and Helen, and his sister, Deanne Hendrickson.
Trevor passed away on Aug. 2, 2022, at the age of 51.
He was a 1989 graduate of Youngsville High School.
Trevor participated in many sports, but excelled in track – winning district titles in the 800-meter run in his sophomore, junior, and senior years, and advancing to states each time. He still holds Youngsville’s all-time record in the 800.
Trevor went on to run at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and completed his degree in business finance at Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
After graduating, he settled in the Sacramento area, where he was involved as a coach, volunteer, and fan of his sons’ teams. He continued to be active in the community throughout his life.
Eventually, Trevor traded running shoes for cycling cleats, particularly enjoying riding on the American River Parkway.
“Trevor would give in any way to anyone and also encourage anyone to succeed in who they are and what they do,” his sister said.
The Trevor Chambers Memorial Scholarship is managed by the Community Foundation of Warren County.
Applicants for the scholarship must be Youngsville High School seniors who participated in track and field or cross-country. Applicants must respond in an essay to: “Who is my hero and what have they overcome in life?”
“We, as a family, felt it was a way to leave the legacy of giving or encouraging of Trevor for years to come,” Hendrickson said.
Those who would like to contribute to the scholarship fund may do so through the Community Foundation of Warren County.
