Harold D. “Rusty” Murphy

Harold D. “Rusty” Murphy

Harold D. “Rusty” Murphy, 79, of Youngsville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at his home.

Born on Aug. 12, 1946 in Spangler, PA, Rusty was the son of the late William R. and Marion L. (Geus) Murphy. He was a 1964 graduate from Cambria Heights High School, Patton PA. Rusty began his career at National Forge Company in 1967 and retired from Ellwood National Forge in 2008. He was a member of the Hastings Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of the Hastings Fireman’s Club.

After retirement, Rusty spent many hours transforming his shed into a true workman’s retreat. What began with a drill press grew into a carefully organized space, complete with custom-built storage boxes to keep everything just in case it might be needed for a future project. In his own unique way, he knew exactly where everything was at any given time. He had a knack to think outside the box whether it was for work, home, family or friends. If he didn’t have what he needed, he would design and build it himself.

Above all, Rusty was the proudest grandpa to Max and Zoe. He loved watching them grow into their teenage years and was immensely proud of who they have become. They will forever hold a special place in his heart, from here to the moon and back.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna M. (Kibler) Murphy, whom he married July 20,1968; his son, Mark (Kara) Murphy of Erie; his grandchildren, Max & Zoe; his brother, Martin “Marty” (Anita) Murphy and family of Hastings, PA and his late brother Bob’s family, of Youngsville.

In addition to his parents, Rusty was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert “Bob” Murphy.

No public services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made in Rusty’s honor to the Youngsville Police Department to support their emergency life-saving equipment.

The Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, in Youngsville, has been entrusted with all arrangements. Condolences to the family may be made at nelsonfuneralhome.net.
