The Warren County Board of Elections will meet later this month to consider moving the Warren Central polling location out of the Warren County Courthouse.
A legal notice published in the Wednesday Times Observer said that a meeting is set for June 28 at noon “to discuss moving the Warren Central polling location to the Salvation Army” which would combine Warren Central with the south and west precincts.
“Any voter in the affected precincts opposed or in factor of is encouraged to attend,” the notice states.
The Times Observer asked what factors went into that potential change and county officials hedged in their response, not mentioning the Warren Central precinct.
“As part of our ongoing efforts, we periodically review our polling locations to ensure that we uphold the principles of efficiency, accessibility, and security in all our endeavors,” a statement provided by Elections Director Krystle Ransom said.
“We will be undergoing a standard review of agreements with our polling locations in the coming weeks, as well as a review of ADA accessibility and centrality. At that time, Elections staff will formulate recommendations – if any – and present them to the Board of Elections in a public meeting.”
The statement stressed that there would be “ample opportunity for public input and discussion” before final decisions are made.
“We look forward to sharing more information if and when it becomes appropriate and useful to do so.”
