Data shows responses by city outside city limits

City of Warren ambulances responded outside the city limits 24 times in February.

And 13 of those calls were covered by an agreement that the city has with a five-municipality EMS commission.

February marked the first full month the agreement has been in place. Fire Chief Dave Krogler said nine of the 13 calls were to Pleasant Township with three in Mead Township and one in Clarendon Borough.

He added that there were an additional six or seven calls under the agreement toward the end of January once it went into place.

There are discussions ongoing with other municipalities, as well.

Krogler said that has included talks with Elk Township and Glade Township.

“Eldred Township reached out to us,” he said, but cited the “really long distance” for why there is unlikely to be an agreement.

Krogler added that there were “informal questions” from Conewango Township but “no official discussions at this time.”

CITY TO SEEK FUNDS FOR BETTS

City Manager Mike Holtz said the city intends to submit a grant application to the state for $50,000 for rehabilitation of the restroom by the DeFrees pavilion at Betts Park.

He said the project cost is $100,000 and the grant would cover 50 percent of the costs.

“A local foundation has committed a match if the city is successful with the grant,” he added.

Starting at $3.50/week.
