A rash of vandalism in North Warren has attracted attention.

On Feb. 12, cameras caught the action as a light pole between the playground on Church Street and the parking lot behind it was deliberately broken as were windows at Warren State Hospital, according to Conewango Township Police.

At 6:48 p.m., “three subjects, which appeared to be juveniles, can be seen pushing the light post back and forth, causing it to break and then feel the area,” Officer Charlie Andersen said. “Later on that evening, at approximately 7:15 p.m., four windows were smashed out on the state hospital grounds with the juveniles being caught on camera.”

The cameras did not catch clear shots of the suspects’ faces, Andersen said.

The incidents weren’t first and some cameras have been installed specifically to address vandalism.

“North Warren Presbyterian Church owns the park and playground,” North Warren Presbyterian Church Property Committee Chairman Gary Olson said. “We have had so much damage done to the area that we have installed cameras all around our property.”

Olson would like to see the vandalism end.

“I am sick and tired of all the damage that these vandals are doing to our community,” he said. “Last week, they hit the park and playground on South State Street doing several thousand dollars of damage to that park and playground.”

The church property has not been the only target.

“They have vandalized homes all over the community,” Olson said.

There was also extensive damage done over the weekend at the baseball field at the end of Plumber Street.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Conewango Township Police at (814) 726-0725,” Andersen said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
