District invites participation in facilities plan
The public input sessions for the Warren County School District master facilities plan are approaching.
The district is working on possibilities for reconfiguring its operations and hopes to have a plan ready in the next three months.
The first session will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the district central office, 6820 Market St., Russell.
District officials, the district’s facilities consultant — Strategy Solutions, will host those who live or work in the district.
“The purpose of this meeting is to gather information from the public and to discuss and identify potential reconfiguration options,” Superintendent Amy Stewart said Tuesday. “Please consider attending to share your thoughts and ideas.”
Anyone who would like to speak during the meeting is encouraged to sign up by email to Board Secretary Ruth Huck — huckr@wcsdpa.org. Those who would like to submit written comments — no more than 800 words — may do so at the same address.
Those who speak during the meeting will be limited to two minutes.
Anyone who provides input — spoken or written — must provide their names so the district can confirm residency.
Some communities have already gotten a jump on their strategies and talking points. Representatives of Sheffield and Youngsville met for more than an hour Sunday evening at a town hall event at Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department.
Those who would like to get in on the early planning phase should plan to attend the first public meeting.
The district expects to select several possible options after the first meeting. The second public input session — 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 18 — will start from that point and focus on the pros and cons associated with the options. The third, and final, session is set for 6 p.m Tuesday, May 9. During that meeting, the focus will be on how to implement the preferred option chosen by the board at its Monday, April 24, work session.
