Eggleston to not seek re-election

Warren County will be electing at least one new county commissioner next year.
Jeff Eggleston has announced that he will not seek re-election at the end of the current term, which ends Dec. 31, 2023.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity the Warren County community has provided me to serve as commissioner,” Eggleston said. “Now, I plan to focus more on my family and pursue other private sector opportunities.”
Whether the county will have additional vacancies to fill in the commissioner’s office is not yet clear.
“As for my future, I’m frankly quite torn, particularly in light of Commissioner Eggleston’s announcement, and have not made a final decision,” Commissioner Ben Kafferlin said.
He stressed that he “will continue to pray, think and consult family and friends over the coming weeks.”
Eggleston credited county staff for the work that they do.
“It has been a pleasure working with so many dedicated public servants,” he said. “My achievements in my role were because of their hard work and assistance at every step, and I am grateful for everything they’ve done. The county staff has been excellent, and I wish them nothing but future success.”
He intends to “retire from politics to pursue multiple private-sector opportunities in creative fields.
“I would not be an effective commissioner or as involved in the community if not for the sacrifice of my wife and children of a good portion of my attention,” Eggleston added. “I am grateful for their patience and acceptance and look forward to focusing on them 100% after my time in politics is finished.”
“I wish Commissioner Eggleston all the best in his future endeavors,” Kafferlin added. “The public might see us banter occasionally, but I want to make it clear that the current board of commissioners work very well together, balance each other, and get along as we share a common vision for where we want to lead the county.
“He’s become a good partner and friend in achieving many goals we set out almost eight years ago.
