Senior Expo to make return on Oct. 28

Another event makes a post-COVID-19 return later this month.

The Senior Expo is set for Oct. 28 at Youngsville VFD.

Presented by the Care Councils for Warren and Forest Counties, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We have so many awesome nonprofits,” Kimberly Wilson, Experience Inc.’s Director of Center Services, said. “It’s great when we can get them together so that our seniors are aware of the services and programs that they may need in our area.

In addition to vendors and programs, the expo will include prizes, basket raffles, giveaways as well as a flu and COVID-19 clinic courtesy of Gaughn’s Drug Store.

Representatives from UPMC will also be on hand to conduct blood pressure readings.

Wilson said the 2020 expo, held before COVID-19 shutdowns, brought in over 600 seniors.

“The Care Council decided that we would start out with a bit of a smaller venue with this year’s Expo and the Youngsville Fire Department was very obliging,” Wilson said.

Transportation will be provided for seniors looking to attend.

“We will be busing our folks from Warren at the Allegheny Community Center Transit Authority of Warren County terminal so they can ride for free if they have registered to ride public transportation,” Wilson said.

Those attending the other senior centers in Warren and Forest counties can sign up to ride for free at their local center.

“Since everything has gone up in price the Care Council wanted to provide a service that saves them some money and still allows them to attend the Expo,” Wilson said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
