County to seek second round of Rescue Plan funds

County officials have an opportunity to go after an additional $700,000 in American Rescue Plan funding.

The county was initially allocated $7.5 million when the act was initially implemented.

Director of Finance and Administration Lisa Hagberg said that she was informed of an opportunity to seek two additional payments “that weren’t claimed by other municipalities.”

“We’ll take that,” Commissioner Jeff Eggleston said.

All of Warren County’s 27 municipalities received a reallocation back in July.

The amounts ranged from $15 to $1,500.

The amount distributed then on a state-wide basis month totaled $1.5 million statewide. Treasurer Stacy Garrity said that 75 municipalities did not apply for funding which freed up that second round.

County officials have expressed a desire to focus Rescue Plan dollars on broadband expansion in the county.

In addition to some in-house expenses, the commissioners did allocate $500,000 of their $7.5 million to the City of Warren for the downtown riverfront project.

Starting at $3.50/week.
