Public meetings set in county planning process
If you’ve got thoughts about the future of the county, then the county has a public meeting for you.
Warren County officials have set up five meetings in the coming weeks to gather public input as part of an ongoing planning process.
The first two meetings are this week — from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Pine Grove Township Building in Russell and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Tidioute Fire Hall.
County Planner Dan Glotz said the planning process “is a rather intense project.” He explained that the goal is an “implementable” or “project-driven” comprehensive plan.
Government funding agencies stress that a project can’t be funded unless it’s included in a plan so county officials are interested in project ideas specifically in areas of land use, transportation, housing, infrastructure and community facilities.
The goal of the sessions is to gather a basic understanding of what members of the community want to see in those areas over the next 10 to 15 years.
Glotz said various stations will be set up to solicit feedback on various issues, allowing attendees to offer suggestions and ask questions.
While the sessions will last two hours, people are welcome to come and go throughout that window.
“Everyone will have the opportunity to offer input,” Glotz stressed.
The county has contracted with Mackin Engineering to complete the plan. That entity is also working with the city’s planning process and the aim is to have plans that mesh when both are done.
Three additional meetings are currently planned for Oct. 13 at the Mead Township Building on US 6 in Clarendon Heights from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Oct. 26 at the Columbus VFD Social Hall from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Oct. 27 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Youngsville Borough building.
