WCS District working to fill staff positions

Summer is more than half over.

In a little more than a month – Wednesday, Aug. 31 – Warren County School District will be back in session and the district continues to recruit.

On Monday, the school board approved the hiring of four new teachers and two social workers. One of the teachers and both social workers will be hired under emergency permits with the requirement that they obtain the proper Pennsylvania certifications.

The new hires stayed ahead of the resignations – narrowly – as the board approved three teacher resignations Monday.

There are more new teachers on the way.

“We have a number of second interviews this week to fill open teacher positions,” Director of Administrative Support Services Gary Weber said.

He said the process is going well, but there are some positions that are difficult to fill.

“We have a few outstanding that we’re having trouble finding qualified candidates for,” Weber said.

Also on Monday, the district held open interviews for support staff positions.

That event was very successful, according to Weber.

“We filled almost all support positions,” he said.

The district is in the process of launching a new website with a focus on a mobile app.

That release is scheduled for Aug. 1.

Starting at $3.50/week.
