Scouts learning to be prepared at Camp Olmsted

Scout Camp brings Scouts together for fun, companionship, and merit badges.

And the number of Scouts spending a week at Camp Olmsted is back up.

After the camp had to be shut down in 2020 due to COVID-19, there were 84 Scouts at camp in 2021.

The number is closer to 150 this year, with at least 50 adults helping in various ways.

There were Scouts from all over Warren County, and beyond. Troop 217 of Chicora was one of the out-of-council troops spending time at Olmsted again this year.

Most of the camp is the same as it has been for years.

There were some new facilities at the camp – including the new range house at the rifle range and a similar structure at the shotgun range.

With archery, there were three shooting options at camp.

There were plenty more – from the very basics of Scoutcraft to camping, swimming, first aid, orienteering, and many others.
