Interview day ‘great opportunity’ for Career Center seniors

Preparing students for successful careers is more than just training them for the work.

Sure, that training is important and will shape the work students will do for decades.

But they’ve got to get in the door.

There’s the importance of Mock Interview Day recently held at the Warren County Career Center.

“All seniors at WCCC were interviewed by people from local businesses and organizations in their field,” Cathie Cummings, the Career Center’s marketing teacher, said.

“This is a great opportunity for the students to learn about resumes, cover letters, professional dress and interviews.”

Over a dozen organizations and businesses participated in the event: Betts Industries (Ryan Betts, Mike Bonavita, Steve Courson, Andy Hangs, Patrick Lund and Bill Anthony); Community Foundation of Warren County (Robert Kaemmerer); Ellwood National Forge (Chad Johnson); Ellwood National Crankshaft (Laura Hyde, Mike Ciprich, Tyler Kasunich); Hi-Ed (Jenny Burroughs); John Anderson Construction (Dick Balas, Kirk Guiher); Jones Chevrolet (Scott Dyke); PennDOT (Adam Hoisington); Pitt-Bradford (Dr. William Clark); Warren General Hospital (Penny Jensen); Warren Manor (Debbie Labesky); WCCBI (John Papalia); WCVB (Casey Ferry — and Nutrition, Inc. (Scott Johnson).

“We truly appreciate all of the people from local businesses and organizations that take time out of their workday for this event,” Cummings said. “They are very supportive of the Warren County Career Center.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
