Families recognize soon-to-be middle schoolers

Warren Area Elementary Center fourth grader Blake Peterson somewhat reluctantly accepts a celebratory balloon from his mom, Kelley, Wednesday during the annual WAEC Clap-Out graduation celebration.

The Clap-Out is a tradition at Warren Area Elementary Center.

Students who are graduating from the school process through the halls, then head outside to be recognized by parents and family.

On Wednesday, about 150 fourth-graders celebrated their turn at the walk.

They were led by School Resource Officer Deputy Joshua Warmath as they walked around the loop in front of the school.

Lining that loop were hundreds of well-wishers.

Some students accepted flowers and balloons. Others gave hugs as they found their people.

Most of the fourth-graders will be moving on to Beaty-Warren Middle School in the fall.

Friday is the last day of school in the Warren County School District.

The district’s four high schools will celebrate commencement activities Friday evening.

Starting at $3.50/week.
