Bear causes early Monday morning crash

A Sheffield woman was transported to the hospital following a crash reportedly caused by a bear running out in front of her vehicle.

Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police responded to the one-vehicle crash at 1:11 a.m. Monday on US 6 at the intersection with Tollgate Road.

Christina C. Drayer, 38, was driving a Ford F-150XLT eastbound then the “bear reportedly ran in (front)” of the vehicle.

Troopers say Drayer “swerved to miss the bear and struck a guide rail end, causing disabling damage” to the front of the vehicle.

They added that she was transported to Warren General Hospital by EmergyCare “for suspended injuries caused during the crash.”

Police were assisted on scene by Sheffield VFD, EmergyCare and Koebley’s Towing.

Starting at $3.50/week.
