The Struthers Library Theatre’s SLT Academy will perform an original holiday special at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3.

The 80s Holiday Special, sponsored by the Kay Hardesty Logan Foundation, is a trip to the Tower Mall around 1987.

“In this original musical written by Eric Morelli and the SLT Academy summer camp students, we follow a motley crew of mallrats, goths, valley girls, gamers, mall walkers and latch-key kids as they navigate the challenges and joys of growing up in the 1980’s, the age of decadence,” Morelli, Theater Marketing and Education Director, said. “This heartwarming show features dialogues, monologues, well known 80’s Christmas songs (Last Christmas, Wonderful Christmastime) and original music – all celebrating pop culture and fashion of this iconic time in American history.”

The special is part of the Allegheny Regional Theatre Experience (ARTE) Program designed for third through twelfth graders and is directed by Karen Austin and Morelli.
