Award celebrates those who make a difference

The Community Service Award is a celebration of people who have made a difference in the Warren County community.

“The evening and celebration is all about honoring volunteers who have made significant contributions to our community through the Annual Community Service Award,” Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry Director of Chamber Operations and Tourism John Papalia said. “The CSA recognizes volunteers for their outstanding service to our community.”

This year’s award is actually two awards — an unusual situation.

The WCCBI did not call for nominations in 2020.

“The committee felt having two awards this year was appropriate, but not to designate one as 2020 and one as 2021,” Papalia said.

So the organizers decided it was appropriate to allow for two in 2021 — if there were suitable nominees.

Finding more than one winner was not a problem.

The Lesters, Gary and Penny, and Ash Khare more than fit the bill.

“They will both be recognized as 2021 award recipients,” Papalia said.

The 2021 Celebration of Excellence Gala will be held starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Conewango Club, 201 Market St., Warren. In addition to the CSA winners, numerous local individuals, businesses, and organizations will be recognized.

Receiving the Excellence in New Business awards are: Cultured Travel, Goat Fort Climbing, and Taylor’s Treats n’ Eatz.

Growth and Expansion awards will be presented to: JC Warren Real Estate, Paws Along the River Humane Society, and Warren County YMCA.

The Exemplary Leadership Award will be given to Warren County School District Superintendent Amy Stewart.

Further information about the event is available by contacting the WCCBI at (814) 723-3050.
