A dozen new COVID cases reported in Warren County
There were 12 new COVID cases in Warren County announced Thursday.
There were only 20 new cases locally in all of June, 106 in July, and 174 new cases in August — with more than 100 of those in the final 10 days of the month.
So far, there have been 2,852 cases in the county, with 2,179 confirmed and 673 probables — that’s a rate of 7,277.2 per 100,000.
The number of COVID-related deaths of county residents is 107.
The total for vaccines rose Thursday to 14,536 residents fully vaccinated. The number of partial vaccines fell by 10 (from 2,373 to 2363), as fewer people received first doses than second doses.
This week, Warren General Hospital initiated new restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the virus. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and the Department of Health set school mask mandates in place.
The City of Warren is joining in.
Effective Tuesday, the city will be requiring masks in all city facilities.
City Manager Nancy Freenock said temperature scanners will be in place at the entrances to the city building. The sole public access to the city building since last year has been located off the back of the building.
“In addition, anyone traversing the public areas of any City facility will be required to wear a mask, unless they suffer from a medical condition which prohibits masking,” Freenock said. “Social distancing should be practiced.”
“We ask that the public adhere to these guidelines in order to keep City employees, residents and visitors safe,” she said. “Everyone’s cooperation is appreciated.”
