Warren Gives drive surpasses previous mark
It was another record-breaker for Warren Gives.
The annual day of charitable giving surpassed its previous mark by 12 percent.
“The Community Foundation is pleased to announce another great year for Warren Gives, held this year on Wednesday, May 19,” Community Foundation of Warren County Executive Director John Lasher said. “The 100 participating organizations raised a total of $731,792.71 an increase of over 12 percent from the total of $648,232 raised in 2020.”
Donating during Warren Gives results in a bonus to the entity on the receiving end. Matching dollars from local funds, foundations, and businesses, are added on to every donation. If an organization receives 10 percent of the total donations, it also takes 10 percent of the matching dollars.
“The total includes $60,000 in matching funds donated by the Community Foundation, DeFrees Family Memorial Fund, Betts Foundation, Crossett, Northwest Charitable Foundation, McComas Charitable Fund, Sara Sokolski Memorial Fund, Superior Tire and Rubber, and United Refining Company,” Lasher said.
Donations ranged from $10 to $7,000, Lasher said. “The average donation was $115.19.”
There were 5,832 donations from 1821 donors – the average donor gave to three organizations. None of the organizations was left out – “all participating organizations received donations,” he said.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of support for non-profit organizations serving Warren County,” Lasher said. “After last year we were not sure what to expect, but people are so aware of the needs in Warren County and used Warren Gives to support our local organizations. Their generosity is amazing!”
The Foundation will be publishing more information about the event, including a thank you for all donors, as well as listings of the top fund raisers, and winners of the incentive prizes. Updates will also be available on the Foundation website, cfowc.org, and the Warren Gives website, warrengives.org. Early planning is already underway for next year’s Warren Gives Event to be held on May 18, 2022, he said.
