Panel ends COVID-19 emergency declaration
The Warren County Commissioners have rescinded the county’s COVID-19 emergency declaration.
Commissioner Ben Kafferlin said that the declaration was initially made March 13, 2020.
“There were several times we utilized provisoins wthin the code allowing us to hire some people very quickly as well as bypass the normal meetings to get some agreements in place,” he expained.
He said those items were all made public but the declaration “sped up the process” in a way that was “helpful.”
However, it’s been months since the declaration has been utilized.
“With the number of vaccines in the county and the fact providers at this point are sitting on quite a bit of vaccine,” Kafferlin added, “(I) think it’s time to go ahead and rescind it.”
Commissioner Tricia Durbin said that Wednesday’s data showed no new cases of COVID-19 in the county.
“This is quite timely,” she said.
