Conservation district accepts pics for contest

Photo submitted to Times Observer The Best in Show winning photo by Mallory Myers from the inaugural Warren County Conservation District Photo Contest.

Photographers in Warren County are invited to enter the Warren County Conservation District’s second annual photo contest.

Entries — 8-by-10 and matted (not framed) — will be accepted through 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at the conservation district office at 4000 Conewango Ave., Warren. The entry fee is $2 per photo and each entry should include the name, address, and phone number of the entrant, place where the image was taken, and category, all written on the back of the photo.

There are four categories: tractors, birds, flowers, and people in nature.

An entrant may submit no more than two photos per category.

The photos must be taken in Warren County.

Entries will be on display at the conservation district from Sept. 20 through Oct. 4. Visitors may vote for their favorites and public votes will determine the People’s Choice awards in each category.

Photos will be judged Oct. 6 by members of the Warren Camera Club and winners will be announced on Oct. 8.

“Prizes are provided by Allegheny Outfitters and include $10 gift cards for First Prize and People’s Choice winners in each category,” according to a release from the conservation district.

“A $50 gift card will also be awarded to the overall Best of Show.”

Professional photographers and employees or directors of the Warren County Conservation District are ineligible.

Submitting an entry provides permission to the WCCD to use the photo without restrictions.

Those looking for information about the contest may visit www.wcconservation.net or call (814) 726-1441.
