Demolition underway on problem site in Youngsville

A Youngsville Borough property that partially collapsed on its own several years ago is now on its way down.
The Warren County Commissioners authorized a bid for the demolition of 1 E. Main St. at a meeting last month.
That work is now underway.
The county initially sought funds through a state blight grant program.
But the bid award will come out of federal Community Development Block Grant funding as county officials previously expressed concern about the building making it through the winter.
Tome Enterprises of Warren is completing the work for $37,800.
Commissioner Jeff Eggleston said when the bid was approved that this was a “really great bid” as estimates for the demolition were as high.
Back in August, Youngsville Borough took title to the property that had a portion of its exterior layer of bricks simply fall off several years ago.
County Planner Dan Glotz told the RDA in October that the county doesn’t expect to hear about the state grant application until the spring.
“(We are) concerned about the condition of that building making it through the winter,” he said, which has prompted the CDBG action.
