Positive test is reported at TCCS
Tidioute Community Charter School has closed for three days in response to a positive COVID-19 test.
“TCCS has closed for three days to deep clean as a result of a reported positive case of COVID-19 at school,” Chief Educational Officer Dr. Doug Allen told the Times Observer.
Allen said the school learned of the result late Tuesday afternoon.
“TCCS follows CDC expectations and students and staff are successfully teaching remotely today and will for two more days per our Safe Return To School Plan,” he said.
Students have shifted to a remote learning model and the expectation is that school will reopen in person on Monday, Nov. 16.
“Virtual is working extremely well,” Allen said, noting that attendance through the day Wednesday has been between 80 and 100 percent.
While Allen said he couldn’t disclose whether the person who tested positive was a student, teacher or other individual, In a letter to parents he stressed that contact tracing will occur.
“If during contact tracing we determine that your child has been identified as a close contact to someone at school who has tested positive,” he wrote, “your child will be required to quarantine at home for 14 calendar days and shall not attend school during this time.
Students from Warren, Forest, Venango and Crawford counties attend the school and Allen said that the relevant Department of Health organizations in those counties “will be notified as necessary.”
“We will work with the PA Department of Health to identify those individuals, and the Department of Health, or TCCS administrators will be in contact with you if your child was exposed to the individual who tested positive,” he wrote.
