Thompson easily wins re-election to fourth term in U.S. House
U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson won re-election to a fourth two-year term as the 5th Congressional District repersentative in Tuesday’s general election.
Unofficial vote totals in Warren County were 6,690, or 65 percent, for Thompson versus 3,592, or 34 percent, for Democratic challenger Kerith Strano Taylor. Thompson won in all of the county’s 33 voting precincts.
Thompson also unofficially received 1,048 votes to Taylor’s 580, or 64 percent to 36 percent, respectively, to sweep Forest County.
On Tuesday evening, Thompson said, “I’m very pleased, very appreciative to the voters. It was a solid win. I also appreciate all the people we had working for us.”
“My strategy is to work hard and do the right thing, I’m appreciative of my family and friends,” he added. “God has allowed me to fulfill my life’s purpose of serving others.”
When asked “What’s next,” he replied, “Tomorrow at 8 o’clock I’m on the job, keynoting a national conference on tele-medicine. Win, lose or draw, the job continues.”
Before returning to Washington, D.C. next Wednesday, Thompson said he plans to return to Warren on Tuesday for Veterans’ Day.
Strano Taylor was not available for comment Tuesday evening.
The official vote count for Warren County will be held Friday morning.
