Pittsfield man to serve additional jail time
A Pittsfield man who was sentenced in March to serve time behind bars will now spend an additional 5 to 10 years in prison.
Tyler Engle was sentenced Friday on three dockets by President Judge Gregory Hammond of the Court of Common Pleas. Engle, 33, has been sentenced to between 5 years and 10 years in prison to satisfy guilty pleas on three court dockets.
On the first docket, Engle faced a second-degree felony charge of possession of controlled substances/contraband by an inmate and felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver. He pleaded guilty to the felony manufacture, delivery or possession charge with the possession of controlled substances/contraband charge not prosecuted. Hammond sentenced Engle to between 6 and 12 months confinement to run consecutively to a sentence of 27 to 54 months in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of second-degree felony failure/be photographed.
On a third docket, Engle was sentenced to a 27 to 54 months in prison to satisfy a guilty plea to another charge of failure to verify address/be photographed.
The charges of failure to verify address/be photographed stem from a 2016 guilty plea to a charge of sexual exploitation of children in federal court. Cameras containing 57 images of underage girls were allegedly found by police. Engle was sentenced to 35 months in prison and to register as a Tier 1 offender which, under Megan’s Law, requires a 10-year sex offender registration period. This period, which began in May 2016, would not have ended until May 2026.
Friday’s sentences add to a sentence Engle received in March. On Dec. 18, 2024, Engle was charged with the second-degree misdemeanor as well as a first-degree misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking – movable property. On Nov. 3, 2025, Engle pleaded guilty to the second-degree misdemeanor and his first-degree misdemeanor was changed on Nov. 3, 2025.
Engle was sentenced to between 4 months and 1 year, 11 months and 30 days of confinement by Judge Gregory Hammond on Feb. 27. Engle’s plea to the second-degree misdemeanor also includes payment of court costs and $912.46 in restitution.
