LEAF PICK-UP IN YOUNGSVILLE

Leaf pick-up began Oct. 17 in Youngsville.

Borough residents are asked to rake leaves to the curb but not into the street. Also, residents are asked to keep stones out of the leaves and to bundle sticks and branches separately.

The leaf pick up schedule is as follows:

¯ Mondays: Railroad, East Main, Davis, College, Orchard, Oak, and Church Streets.

¯ Tuesdays: Woodard, Poplar, Ford, IOOF, March, Bates, Pleasant Streets.

¯ Wednesdays: Brown Hill, Water, Mill, Highland, Second, West Main, Old Pittsfield, High, Broad, Beckenwood, Sonia Streets.

¯ Thursdays: 3rd to 9th street, Dillon, Division, North Main, Yucha, McGraw, Spring, Hillside, LaVerne Streets.

¯ Fridays: Areas not completed on assigned days.

CLEANUP

The Youngsville Cemetery Board is asking all lot owners to remove all summer cemetery decorations by Nov. 1.

HOMETOWN CHRISTMAS

The Youngsville Hometown Christmas event will be Saturday, Dec. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. The parade will be at 4 p.m. Organizers are accepting vendors. For more information, call Sara Robinson at 814-730-4272. Those interested in participating in the parade can call Carrie Hendrickson at 814-730-5581.

FUNDRAISERS

Gun Bingo: Tickets are still available for the gun bingo event on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Garland Fire Hall. Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.. Doors open at 5 p.m. Those attending must be 18 years or older. Tickets are $30 per ticket and can be purchased at the Garland Fire Hall on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings, from any Garland VFD member or by calling 814-622-8729. Tickets are required to play bingo and winners must be present. The Oct. 29 event benefits both the Garland Volunteer Fire Department and the Wrightsville Volunteer Fire Department.

Fall Festival: The Tidioute Community Charter School will host its annual fall festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. The festival is open to the public. There is no cost at the door, and the festival includes craft vendors, food, basket giveaways, a cake walk, pumpkin carving contest and more. Proceeds will be used to sponsor TCCS PTO events, such as school field trips and activities.

Turkey Party: The Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fall turkey party will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4. Doors open at 6 p.m. Free refreshments will be provided. The turkey party includes giveaways for steaks, cheese and pepperoni, turkeys, meat platters, cash, reverse Lotto, instant tickets, Amish-made rocking chair, wood furniture and more. There is alsoa $1,000 cash prize for the last spin. Gun tickets are available now at Wilcox Brothers True Value, Coffaro Butchering, Grant Lumber, Enos Milling and Tire Service – or a a fire department member. All are welcome, but children are to supervised at all times.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

Pysanky Workshop: Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon there will be a Holiday Pysanky Workshop at the Crary Art Gallery, 511 Market St. Shandra Wilson returns share the Ukrainian tradition that involves writing on an egg with a wax pen or “Kitska” and dipping colored dyes for a layered effect. The cost is $35 for non-members and $30 for members. All materials included. Space is limited. Register at www.craryartgallery.org

HEROES support group: Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be a HEROES Support Group Meeting at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center. HEROES is a support group for parents of children with disabilities. Children are welcome at this meeting. There will be activities for the children. The speaker will be Hannah Pacheco, Pediatric COTA/L, discussing interoception, the eighth sensory system and how it affects children. Interoception is a lesser-known sense that helps shape well-being.
