Night sky program
The Forest Service is hosting a night sky program at Beaver Meadows near Marienville on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 8:30 p.m. “During our journey across the sky, we will identify stars, constellations, and night sky objects while exploring connections to our past and future,” said Ranger Sarah Needs. Those attending are asked to bring a chair or blanket and dress for the weather.
Military Share
Military Share food distribution for any active military or veterans and their families is set for Friday at 2 p.m. at 4060 Market St. across from the Ed Shults dealership. Those attending are asked to bring driver’s license and military ID.
Bridge results
Dave Benedict and Penny came in first on Monday evening at the YMCA with Emily Birgel and Barbara Johnson in second. At the Allegheny Community Center on Tuesday, Connie Michell and Sherry Griffiths were first and second. Adele Crossett was first on Thursday at the Woman’s Club and Marcy O’Brien came in second.
Clothing giveaway
The Akeley Christian Fellowship Church will host a free clothing giveaway Thursday from 2 until 6 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Free clothing, shoes, boots, coats, etc., will be available in sizes newborn through adult. In addition, a limited amount of household items will also be available.
Warren Garden Club
The Warren Garden Club met on Aug. 15 at Olmsted Manor in Ludlow. The next meeting will be Sept. 19 for the annual picnic at Betts Park. That will be accompanied by a tour of the Warren County Master Gardeners demonstration garden.
